The nations of Lund are nothing without all the volunteering students that help out to make the university years a bit more fun than they would’ve been otherwise. All of our activities at Sydskånska are run by volunteering students, and becoming active in a nation is one of the best ways to meet new friends and do something fun in your free time.
Here at Sydskånska you can work with serving, cooking for both cafes, the pub and three-course meals, serving cocktails during our clubs, photographing or creating content for the nation’s graphic design to name a few things!

How do I become a Foreman?
Becoming a foreman is easy!
The Foremen of Sydskånska Nationen are elected by the members at our Nation Meetings, which are held three times per term. Our foremen are involved in various parts of our business, they design creative dishes, run cool club concepts with live acts, protect the environment and manage fantastic parties to name a few things. They simply develop and manage our operations. Our foremen constantly strive to gild the experience of our guests when they are here with us at Sydskånska.

DESCRIPTIONS OF OUR FOREMAN POSITIONS
SEXMÄSTERIET
Övermarskalk
As Övermarskalk (=Head Marshal) you plan and realize our ball, Knävlingagillet, that takes place in February-March every year. You have the overall responsibility for everything from invitations, sign-up, marketing, the premises, technique, entertainment, marshals etc. The role entails a lot of contact with external parts and close co-operation with the Quratel and Sexmästare.
Sexmästare
The Sexmästare plan and are in charge for our more traditional internal parties: the annual Goose dinner, the Christmas party, Knävlingagillet’s Afterparty and the Summer party. The role entails planning in consultation with the Quratel, Köksmästare and Övermarskalk.
Skvalborgsgeneral (Spring only)
You plan and realize our huge Skvalborgsparty. You book music acts, plan the area, market the event, find workers, set the area etc. During the event you lead your workers and handle the contact with the DJ’s and guards. You plan the event together with the Quratel.
Festförman
Our Festförmän are in charge of our Open Club’s and rentals. Our open clubs can take on any theme or music genre. Rentals can be lunches, pubs, clubs etc. It is a varying role where you get the chance to work with different types of activities. The role entails planning and marketing of the Open Club-events and finding workers and lead them during both Open Club’s and rentals.
Svartklubben
As Svartklubben foreman you are in charge of planning our hiphop-clubs. Your responsibility entails deciding a theme for the night, book a DJ or live-act, do the marketing, get workers and during the night lead these so that both workers and guests have a fantastic night. The club foremen are free to put their own touch and set direction for our established club concepts. You are in charge of the club approximately every fourth week.
Heartland
As Heartland foreman you are in charge of planning our pop-clubs. Your responsibility entails deciding a theme for the night, book a DJ or live-act, do the marketing, get workers and during the night lead these so that both workers and guests have a fantastic night. The club foremen are free to put their own touch and set direction for our established club concepts. Heartland is 1-3 times per semester.
Foxen
As Foxen foreman you are in charge of planning our disco/funk/soul-clubs. Your responsibility entails deciding a theme for the night, book a DJ or live-act, do the marketing, get workers and during the night lead these so that both workers and guests have a fantastic night. The club foremen are free to put their own touch and set direction for our established club concepts. Foxen is 3-4 times per semester.
Hovmästare
The Hovmästare (=Head Waiter) is in charge of setting the tables, decorate and prepare the bar together with the workers before the sittnings. During the sittning the responsibilities are serving pre-drink, running the bar, serve the food and make sure that all guests have a lovely evening. You co-operate with the chef and kitchen to make the sittning run a smooth as possible. You are in charge of the sittning 1-2 times per month.
Pubförman
As Pub foreman you are in charge of either the bar or the kitchen. You take turns with your colleagues so that everyone does the kitchen and bar a few times each. When you are in charge of the kitchen you decide what to cook, find recipes, order the food and cook the food together with your workers. When you are in charge of the bar you and your workers set the tables and decorate the hall, prepare the bar and are in charge of the music. When the pub opens you run the entrance, bar and serve the food. Theme nights and entertainment of various kind is appreciated and is good to plan together with the one running the kitchen or the Pub foreman group as a whole. You are in charge of the pub approximately every third week.
KÖKSMÄSTERIET
Köksmästare / Head Chef
The Köksmästare cooks food for our internal events which are the traditional parties (the Goose dinnner, the Christmas party and the Summer party) and the nation meetings.
Kock / Chef
As chef you cook food for our sittnings. You plan and find recipes for a three-course dinner, place the food order and cook the food together with your workers. You co-operate with the headwaiter to make the sittning run as smooth as possible. You are in charge of the sittning food 1-2 times per month.
Lunchförman / Lunch Foreman
As lunch foreman you are in charge of our Friday lunch. Before the lunch you decide recipe, order the food and find workers. During the Friday you and your workers set and decorate the serving hall, cook and serve the food. You are in charge of the lunch approximately every fourth week.
Kaféförman / Café Foreman
As Kafé foreman you are in charge of Kafé Matiné. You chose what movie to show and what food to serve. You place the food order, write eventinfo and find workers. During the Sunday you and your workers set and decorate the hall, cook and serve the food before you start showing the movie. You are in charge of Kafé Matiné approximately every third week.
Osignatförman / Osignat Foreman
Osignat is our open mic café that takes place the last Tuesday every month. As foreman you find acts that want to perform during the event, plan and order the food. You find workers with whom you during the day set the hall and stage, cook the food and serve it during the event.
NATU & ÖVRIGA FÖRMANNAPOSTER
Novischförman / Novisch Foreman
The Novischery plan and are together with the Notary responsible for our novisch period. You decide activities, are in charge of the mentors, market the nation at fairs and make sure that our new members get some fantastic first weeks at the nation.
Internationell sekreterare / International Secretary
As International Secretary you make sure that our international students feel extra welcome. You work together with the Novischery during the novisch period with welcoming new students and have the main responsibility during “orientation week”.
Vieriförman
As Vieri foreman your task is to create a lovely community within the foreman squad. You do this by for example arranging foreman activities and helping out with arranging games at internal events as the foremantrip and kickoff.
NATU-förman
NATU means the nations activity and well-being committee and the foremen’s task is to arrange fun and varying irregular activities. It can be everything from game night, dance workshop, excursions, building a snowman-competition… the sky’s the limit!
Idrottsförman / Sports Foreman
As Sports foreman you arrange fun sport activities. We play football every Sunday but except that you are supposed to come up with and arrange other sports activities that you would like the nation to do. In the spring semester you also work the Tandem race.
Sångförman / Song Foreman
Our Sångförman chooses songs and often acts as toastmaster during our internal sittnings, both thankyou-sittnings as well as our traditional events (The Goose Dinner, The Christmas Party, Knävlingagillet and The Summer Party).
Fotoförman / Photo Foreman
As Photo foreman you make sure our activities is immortalized. You can take the pictures yourself or find workers to do so. It is beneficial of you also can edit the pictures.
Grafiker / Graphics Foreman
As Graphics foreman you help our PR-boss with making graphic designs for our events and other material.
IT-förman
As IT-foreman you for example are in charge of our webpage and making sure our wifi works.
Tvättförman / Laundry Foreman
What would the nation be without clean shirts and table cloths? You make sure our textiles get washed and folded! You are doing the laundry every second week.
Valberedningsledamot / Nomination Committee Member
The Election committee holds interviews with candidates applying for positions at the nation. They recommend candidates to the nation meeting. The role entails intense work during the application periods.
Tandemgeneral (Spring only)
Our Tandemgeneraler plan and are in charge for Sydskånska’s bus during the Tandem race which takes place in May. You decide theme, book the bus, make sure it’s loaded with food and music and during the race you keep order and track of 50 over excited sydskåningar.
